Granite quarry

I spent one day in Vermont and toured Rock of Ages granite quarry.  It was the last last tour of the year, and thankfully the rain held off till after the tour. At the pace they are currently able to work, the quarry will be depleted of granite in 400 years.  Much of the granite is used for headstones, mausoleums, and memorials.  Self guided "tour" of their factory and the fun of a granite bowling lane are also things of interest.  The self guided tour is a walk along a 2nd story path that looks out over the factory floor.  A few info cards pointed things out, but I did not understand much of what I could see.  Perhaps it would have helped to watch their video about the quarry and manufacturing process first, but I was tired from 2 hours of driving and not interested in a video.  The bowling lane was nice to see, but strongly needed new plastic and rubber bowling balls.  Traditional bowling balls are not used, because overtime they are broken by hitting the granite lane.  I got two gutter balls for the one frame I bowled.

After visiting Rock of Ages, I and my current traveling partner walked around a neighboring town in search of state stickers and dinner.  I've started a collection on my car bumper.  One sticker per state I've visited.  Happily, we found what I was looking for and also enjoyed a hot pizza before driving 2 hours back to New Hampshire in heavy rain.
